Introduction
The IPMA Young Project Manager Award is awarded annually to recognize and motivate young project management professionals around the world. Introduced in 2006 at the IPMA Young Crew conference in Shanghai, China, the IPMA Young Project Manager Award recognizes rising talent in the project and program management industries by honoring young project managers for their accomplishments early in their careers. These honorees have demonstrated invaluable impact to both their profession and their companies, and are on the fast track to becoming influential project leaders on an international scale.
The award is open to project management professionals aged 18 to 35 years at the time of entry. The criteria for evaluation are based upon the IPMA International Competence Baseline (ICB). An international jury will select the finalists for the award. Each finalist will receive an IPMA-Sponsorship (1.500 €) to participate in the 2010 IPMA Young Crew Management Workshop in Istanbul, Turkey.
Application Procedures
All prospective applicants for the 2010 IPMA Young Project Manager Award should complete the online application. Initial applications will be accepted by the Award Committee until midnight, 30 June 2010 Eastern Standard Time (EST). Assessment Criteria
All applicants will be evaluated on the same set of assessment criteria. These criteria were developed by members of the IPMA Young Crew Management Board, and provide a standardized approach to selecting the finalists for the award. The Award Jury, which is comprised of a panel of global project management professionals, will assess the application packages and score each package on a scale from 1-10 (1 being the lowest and 10 being the highest). The score will then be weighted according to the following criteria:
- Application from the Young Project Manager – 20%
- Project Description written by the Young Project Manager – 20%
- Evaluation by the Senior Manager of the Young Project Manager – 30%
- Feedback from Project Owner / Customer involved in the Project – 20%
- Award Jury Perspectives – 10%
The final score for each applicant is the sum of the weighted scores.
Confidentiality
The names of all applicants will be handled with the highest confidentiality. Such information is available only to people directly involved in the scoring and processing. Therefore, we ask all applicants to keep any feedback on their application confidential until the announcement of the results at the 2010 IPMA Young Crew Workshop Gala Dinner.
