I had the opportunity to open the IPMA Expert Seminar in Zürich. People from 16 different countries were participating, even from Saudi Arabia, Ghana and Hong Kong (China), really amazing!
We were working on “Survival and Sustainability as Challenges for Projects”; we definitely will need sustainability if we want to survive.
One of the main questions was, whether we should focus on sustainability of project management or sustainability of the project products. As with most things in life, this is not a matter of choice, we have to accentuate the need for both.
In the evening - after a “middle short” walk through snow and ice - we had a very nice dinner “cheese fondue” up the hill.
Regarding sustainability of the seminar: the papers as well as a summary of the interactive work will be published in the traditional proceedings book. 2/25/2010
Just coming back from Jakarta, Indonesia… Beside meetings where I tried to motivate a group of people to become IPMA members, I was participating in a panel discussion comparing competency based to knowledge based certification systems. It´s really interesting to see that knowledge based certification systems are more and more seen as a good starting point in project management, but later on it´s important to have experienced and competent project managers. A knowledge based test doesn´t help anymore, advanced assessments are necessary to find out if somebody is really competent as a project manager. Good to see that IPMA is on the right track… 1/30/2010Linked to our Executive Board Meeting in Istanbul where we also visited the venue for the IPMA World Congress in November 2010 I got the opportunity to meet Mehmet Habib Soluk, the undersecretary of the Ministry of Transport & Communications in Ankara.
The ministry of Transport & Communications fully supports our Congress and they will present some of the most important, complex projects carried out by Turkey in these years.
For IPMA it´s very important and encouraging to have a close and direct link to local governments. On one hand we can offer mature support in project management and on the other hand we would like to see our standard (ICB 3) close to the national standards. | Edit in Browser | /_layouts/images/icxddoc.gif | /views/_layouts/formserver.aspx?XsnLocation={ItemUrl}&OpenIn=Browser | 0x0 | 0x1 | FileType | xsn | 255 | | Edit in Browser | /_layouts/images/icxddoc.gif | /views/_layouts/formserver.aspx?XmlLocation={ItemUrl}&OpenIn=Browser | 0x0 | 0x1 | ProgId | InfoPath.Document | 255 | | Edit in Browser | /_layouts/images/icxddoc.gif | /views/_layouts/formserver.aspx?XmlLocation={ItemUrl}&OpenIn=Browser | 0x0 | 0x1 | ProgId | InfoPath.Document.2 | 255 | | Edit in Browser | /_layouts/images/icxddoc.gif | /views/_layouts/formserver.aspx?XmlLocation={ItemUrl}&OpenIn=Browser | 0x0 | 0x1 | ProgId | InfoPath.Document.3 | 255 | | Edit in Browser | /_layouts/images/icxddoc.gif | /views/_layouts/formserver.aspx?XmlLocation={ItemUrl}&OpenIn=Browser | 0x0 | 0x1 | ProgId | InfoPath.Document.4 | 255 | | View in Web Browser | /_layouts/images/ichtmxls.gif | /views/_layouts/xlviewer.aspx?listguid={ListId}&itemid={ItemId}&DefaultItemOpen=1 | 0x0 | 0x1 | FileType | xlsx | 255 | | View in Web Browser | /_layouts/images/ichtmxls.gif | /views/_layouts/xlviewer.aspx?listguid={ListId}&itemid={ItemId}&DefaultItemOpen=1 | 0x0 | 0x1 | FileType | xlsb | 255 | | Snapshot in Excel | /_layouts/images/ewr134.gif | /views/_layouts/xlviewer.aspx?listguid={ListId}&itemid={ItemId}&Snapshot=1 | 0x0 | 0x1 | FileType | xlsx | 256 | | Snapshot in Excel | /_layouts/images/ewr134.gif | /views/_layouts/xlviewer.aspx?listguid={ListId}&itemid={ItemId}&Snapshot=1 | 0x0 | 0x1 | FileType | xlsb | 256 |
